I have a mouthpiece stamped "G8" and also "France." It doesn't (nor did it ever) say "Woodwind Company." Any guesses what it is? I bought it because it has <eerie, mystical music here> three rings at the bottom. Plays OK. Had a Penzel-Mueller "pressure plate" ligature attached to it. It's a total mysery to me.

Does the clar. it came with have a name? WW made mp's for many US makers, and possibly some Fr makers ??[likely "stencilled"]. The G8 type mp designation is only from WW [to my limited knowledge]. They and P-M may have combined in their later years [50's] when I visited them in NYC. Ah, Mystery?? Don

I got the mpc. without a clarinet, just by itself. It just seems weird to me that if the Woodwind Co. did make it, why stamp it "France?" Yet more bizarre, that P.-M. "pressure plate" lig that came with it says "Brevette" and (I think) "France." I guess there was a French market for American clarinet accessories, which seems about as sensible to me as Roquefort cheese from . . . Long Island City!!!!

Bill, Many [maybe most, myself included] cl'ists frequently exchange mps and ligs so there may not be any relationship between your pair. I have 2 WW mps, a G8 and a C7, and a P-M Pressure Plate lig, which says NY AND Paris, not orig, on my PM FB clar.tho. Brevette merely means patent in Fr. {dont know of a PM US lig patent, will look for it. Don
