I have an old Schreiber Albert system clarinet, probably a student model, that came with a non-matching barrel, probably from a French clarinet. I would like to replace the barrel, as it doesn't really fit and causes all sorts of problems. However, I have been unable to find German clarinet barrels for sale. Does anyone know where I can find one without having one custom-made to the instrument?

Hello,
Custom made should be about as expensive as replacement, and maybe better. Check with Allan Segal, I'm sure he can make something great for you.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Ben.
I would need to have the instrument in the workshop to make the appropriate "birne."
The links to German dealers are interesting...and serve to remind me how much time I wasted trying to learn German in school.
disclaimer...I make barrels, but I admit to never making one (yet) for a German instrument. Ach Himmel.
