Hello.
I had this clarinet for a while. It's an wooden clarinet, bears the Evette - Buffet Crampon logo with a serial no. of 253258. I was never told how old it is, and it was supposed to be an intermediate horn equivalent to E11. Today I found out that you can look up the serial no. for information on the Buffet Crampon website, and it returns only one hit:
Brand : Buffet Crampon
Instrument : BC 1131
Serial number : 253258
Year of manufacturing : 02/10/1984
The clarinet does look like it was that old, and according to this forum, BC 1131 translates to Buffet Crampton Bb R13. Do you think that's my horn, or it's a mistake?

If it says "Evette" on it, it is not an R13. The serial number lookup us only for Buffet professional models, of the R13 level or higher. They do not have a listing for theEvettes on that site to date them.
Generally speaking, the R13 clarinets have no model designation on them at all, and sertainly do not have "Evette" stenciled into the Buffet crest. I would say you have a decent student horn, but nothing above that.

Hi David L - We have discussed Evette numbering and ancestry several times recently, so may I suggest that a Search of our BB archives might help your E's investigation. My plastic, V G playing, E shows an F [faint] before the # 18340, and in an UJ oval, Evette, Sponsored by Buffet, Paris France. I also believe it's from the 1970-80's and appears quite similar to what few R13's I've seen, repaired [minor]. Can you help, Hans ? Luck, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

If you can, compare it to an E11 - it should be pretty much identical to a mid-80s E11 (and B12) in terms of keywork
