Pan American was a brand name used for student quality instruments (not only clarinets but band instruments in general) by the C. G. Conn company in Elkhart, Indiana, before the Conn family sold the company. These are solidly made (better than the "Conn" labelled clarinets made by the UMI conglomerate that later bought the Conn brand name, IMHO), although Pan Americans don't have high monetary value today.

My recollection is ! La Marque [The Mark] is a trade name earlier used by Martin of Paris, Fr., a fairly good clar. The Pan Am [student horn of Conn, on back]if a "multicolored" brown may be one of their laminated wood cl's made back in the 40-60's, by and large unsuccessfully, but good ones may now have some value. This and the Martin cl's have been discussed several times before, so search the Forum for more info. Others, please help! Don
