what? edition of messager's solo de concours
Author: clarionet

Am looking to buy this piece, but do not know what edition to choose (I need it with the piano part).

I have so far seen Leduc and David Bonade online, and the Bonade is really cheap.

Any others that I should look for? Thank you in advance for your help!

P.S. I have already used the search engine, and have read discussions of the recordings but not of the score itself.

Here at the University of Minnesota John Anderson has an edition of it that's quite good - including a pamphlet of performance suggestions to help you with the cadenza, etc....and it's really, really, cheap. You can order on his website at www.jeanne-inc.com.

(Disclaimer - I do not recommend this edition simply as Dr. Anderson being one of my instructors; rather, it is a good edition which I would recommend regardless...I'm not even in Anderson's studio, anyway...)

Chris, thank you. It looks interesting.

I have just been told it might be in one of our libraries and I will look it up. The price is good, so I might buy it in any case.

I can see that the Leduc edition is also more expensive, although not as expensive as here. I got almost the same price from a UK shop, but in pounds.
But the shipping costs probably cut any saving I could make on the exchange rate.

Thanks for introducing me to a good site in any case.

Bonade's edition in the 16 Grand Solos book is very good and accurate. Southern Music publishes it.

Great compilation though if you are only looking for that piece alone, I'd go with the Anderson also.
