 Finding M30 13's

Does anyone know of any companies that sell the M30 13 Vandoren mouthpieces? I am wanting to order at least 3 or more to try. I have in the past used music123.com but they don't carry it. In Australian shops I can only find M30's (not 13 series).

Muncy winds appears to have them for USD $69.95 each:

Hope this is of help.

wwbw (woodwind brasswind) has them wwbw.com There was a glitch in the wwbw catalogue a few months ago that improperly removed the M30s from their on-line catalogue, but I believe that that has been fixed.

I've been messing about with M30/13s for a couple of years. My teacher was playing an M30 (sans "13") professionally, and had me bring mine along to the first lesson.

Its an odd critter --with a very, very, very long lay. You need to choke yourself with it to get all the reed to work for you.

I've just recently had one refaced by Lee Livengood over in Salt Lake City, and it is a wonderful piece. Several professors and orchestral pros have tried it out, and the unanimous opinion is that 1.) it is very easy to play and 2.) It has the typical "covered" sound of a Vandoren mouthpiece.

I don't know what "covered" means, but the thing plays for me.

Hey Nick,

Pretty sure Renee plays one of those. She bought it with her new pair of Buffets through Billy Hyde Orchestral at the end of last semester. Maybe Diana helped her with the piece though, I'll ask her at our recitals today. Good luck with your recital too, are you playing the William O Smith?

Toohey.

Thanks for the replies, I considered trying some of those other stores but I have a feeling they don't ship internationally? I'm pretty sure I tried Muncy (or maybe weiner) a couple of years ago and they didn't send to Australia. I would want to order at least a few and try them out.

2E, I'm not sure if you're aware or not but I'm not living in Brisbane and haven't been for a couple of years now. I have no idea who Renee is. I do know that Irit in the Queensland Orchestra plays an M30 13. What is the William O Smith? No I'm not playing it in my recital. I'm doing Bartok Contrasts, Schumann Romances, and Francaix Theme and Variations.

Both Weiner and Muncy ship internationally, but it's not cheap. Depending on how many your order, your local prices, and your import VAT and tax, it might still be worth it.

They cost at least $140-$150 here, so US$69.95 with the current exchange rate is about $75 Australian which is REALLY good. Plus postage of course
