I've posted about this before but received no answers.
I love my mouthpiece, but I'm not sure what the difference is between it and the b45 and the B45lyre. Is the b45dot a name which is only used here in Australia, perhaps? Does it have any equivalent brand names overseas? Can anyone help?

My reading of the Vandoren literature suggests that there is no essential differences between the B45 and B45dot MPs.
Both are listed as "medium open" MPs and both have a tip opening of 119.5 hundredths of a mm (1.195 mm). Both are listed as having a "medium long" facing. The B45lyre, in contrast, is shown as an "open" MP with a tip opening of 127 hundredths of a mm (1.27 mm) and a "medium long" facing like the B45's. Insofar as I can tell from the literature, these names are used world-wide.

The difference bwtween an Vandoren B45 and B45 (dot) is the "dot" version has a slightly larger chamber. Facing of B45 (dot) and B45 is the same.

in fact, I use a B45dot. I bought it by accident.
When my clarinet tipped over to the ground, my original
B45 was broken. So, I wanted to buy a new B45 and got
a B45dot without noticing it. But I like this mouthpiece
very much. The tone, using the B45dot is clearer brighter
and also a little bit louder compared to the normal B45.
The B45lyre is quite different from both. It is more open.
I prefer it for playing Jazz where it is not so important
to play a good staccato

btw. Do you use Reed Australia? I guess they might show good performance in your country since it is climatized there.

It seems to me that 'Reeds Australia' reeds are more poular outside Australia.
i tried them once and didn't think they were bad at all. I suppose I'm quite set in my ways as far as equipment goes, so I stuck with my Vandoren strength-3s. Although some well known clarinettists use Reeds Australia here, i know of not a single player personally who uses them.
Interestingly, I suspect you players in USA and Europe (and japan) would be able to get these reeds more easily than Australians would. Most shops really only stock Ricos and Vandorens. Reading this bulletin board makes me realise how isolated we are and jealous that you players overseas have such fantastic access to a wide range of equipment.

In many areas of the USA, our local shops are just as poorly stocked. We get around it by mail ordering from big outfits who specialize in mail order service.
