One of our more prominet on-line music stores offeres an Airway lightweight clarinet case for single Bb, double Bb/Ab or triple Bb/Ab/Eb combinations. Wondering if anyone has experiance with an Airway case and how they compare other lightweight clarinet cases on the market--Bam Treking for example?? Googled "airway" but with no results.

Take a look at the Muncy Winds site. They have a picture & description. I googled "Airway clarinet case".
Oops...I just realized you must've been refering to them when you said "online site"...sorry.

Yes, Selmer, that's the one!! What I would like to see is a larger inside pic and some accompaning description(s) like, softside/hardside, shoulder strapes, storage compartment size, weight, etc.
Ice--DITTO on the zippers. But on softside cases, they are probably necessary. Got them on my old Yamaha softside double case and they are a "pain"--but they keep the case closed securily.
10/27--just after this posting, I re-checked the website and was pleased to find a (small) picture of the interior of the triple case as well as a customer review.
(minutes later) just checked my email and received a series of pics from someone willing to sell a used triple Airway. Interior looks well built for instrument protection and quite compact, but with no extra room for any accessory equipement--just the clarinets and mpcs. Reeds, etc still have to be stored in outside music compartment, IF it is roomy enough--sounds like a hassel to me.....

I ordered a BAM single Bb Trekking (Blue!) a few days ago based on the insistance of the clarinet maker who recently overhauled my 1953 Selmer. He swears by them, having played & built clarinets for decades (he even worked for Buffet & has a barrel of his own making distributed by them). I told him flat out that I hate "sporty" or "gig" cases and that I would much prefer and attache style case in the vein of a Buffet pochette type of thing. His answer was a simple "So, like what you like!! But if you want to protect your instrument, which is MOST important thing, I find nothing better out there!!" It was funny, cuz he was so genuinely fiesty & heated about it. He keeps his own clarinets of his own line in a Bam double case.
I haven't received it yet, so I'm not talk from personal experience yet, but one other bit of advice that this fella gave me...
Get your case, whatever one you decide on, from a dealer!
The reason is, if something should go wrong (a zipper issue, for example) or if the integrity of the case is compromised in any way, the dealer is able to go straight to the manufacturer to either have your case fixed or replaced. You won't get this from a store.
The dealer I used just happened to have one blue case at his disposal, which was important to me as I didn't want the standard black that everyone else has, and I got it much cheaper than from any online outlet...about $40 less.
I don't know if that's standard when using a dealer directly, but it was a happy surprise to say the least!

Thanks PC--those links are must what I was looking for. As pictured at the company website, the double Airway clarinet case does have an interior compartment for small accessory storage along the side where the Eb fits in the triple version. And they all come with backstraps.
10/31/07 Just received an email from a Muncie Winds rep telling me the double Airway DOES NOT have an inner storage compartment but has a "roomy" outter one. Also, it is ridgid like the Bam cases, not a softside like my Yamaha lightweight, apparently. Happy Holloween.
