I've seen two used in a local music shop and I'm curious about them - unfortunately, the writing and inscription on both isn't quite enough for me to find further information. Maybe you all could help?
One is marked:
Steel Ebonite, The Woodwind Company, Kenosha, WI, and it has G6 carved on the table.
The other simply says King, with a crown logo carved in, and no other identifying marks that I can find.
Would there be any way to find out what type of horn or reed these mouthpieces might work well with short of buying them and spending all day with different strength reeds? Needless to say I can't afford that right now.

i'd take the woodwind company one, and use a vandoren reed, like a 3.

I agree with R R, if only the two are under consideration. I'm more familiar with WW's sop. mps. faced at G8, a V G "medium" facing. Try both if you can, King did some things very well. We have discussed bass mps many times here, and on the Yahoo groups, bass-clarinet and mouthpiecework, so there are multiple opinions available. I personally am very happy with two bass mps [GG's], made by Pomarico [glass] refaced by Dave Spieg., who also refaced a Selmer C*, its not quite as good IMHO. Don

I play a Woodwind Company bass clarinet mouthpiece on a Vito, and it plays very well with a Legere reed and Rovner lig. I would recommend it over the King. Both Vito and Woodwind Co. are Leblanc products, by the way.
