GBK,
You said in a previous post that you raised your thumb rests and replaced them with adjustable ones. What brand did you replace them with?
Many thanks
Sparks

Jupiter (which are much sturdier than the Buffet adjustable thumb rests)

Here's my two cents:

I use a thumb rest made by the French Oboe maker, Loree.

It's the "Dutch" thumb rest made for English Horn, and it's quite wide and very comfortable. I had Jimmy Yan reset it about an inch higher, which is much more comfortable. New holes had to be drilled, and the old ones were filled in with Grenadilla powder and glue, an undetectable fix.

It's worked on my A, Eb, and C clarinets very well for many years now.

Good luck,

Superglue and wood dust is THE best filler.

The opinions I express are my own.

Off-topic, but clear epoxy/wood dust is an even better filler combination than superglue/wood dust, IMO. Sands smoother, fewer air voids, more time available to work it into the crack/chip/hole/whatever.

Epoxy mixed with black paint pigment powder is pretty good too, but I now prefer grenadilla dust and superglue.

I have very little problem with air voids. Perhaps it is the detail of the method.
