 Rent then Buy??

I want to restart playing clarinet. I stopped at the end of my secondary 2 grade (American 8th or 9th grade I think). In fact it was only the music class. But now i just finished my secondary 5 and i want to start again. My mother has been telling me that i was kinda good so did my cousin who was in the same class. Anyway, i believe that i learned how to play on a Yamaha Bb (Might be YCL-20) student model in plastic. I know a student model will be enough for me, so i looked in near music stores websites. One is located about an hour of road from me and offers to rent the instrument. Then, if i like it they can give back some of the rental fee. They have also lots of used instruments. Buffet's B12 ans Bundy/Selmer's 1400s mostly.
2 little questions:
1. After 3 years without playing, how long do you think it would take me to get my body (lung muscles, lips, etc. )used to play clarinet again ? (I took me about 4 months the first time)

2. Do you recommend other models of beginner's clarinet apart the 2 i mentionned or maybe you have something against one of them ?

Thank you

Mokmo - I, and likely Mark C, dont [and wont] see anything wrong with your questions-topics, so I/we solicit answers from all! I've always regarded the rent-to-purchase plans as spending more than necessary to start playing, and in your case, re-start. Good quality, used, clars. can be bought at low cost and re-sold with little or no loss if not wanted or unsatisfactory. I recently helped a family to buy a good Yamaha 52 clar. at a very good price, for an up-and-coming cl'ist. Vito 3 is also a good one, IMHO. Don

Well, people.
I found the perfect thing. I just rented a clarinet (Yamaha student model) from a music store. It cost me 85$, for 2 months plus an extra month deposit. And, oh joy, If i decide to buy any of their clarinets before oct. 20th, Used (And they have a lot of these) or new, i will receive a rebate of the total amount i paid for the rental.

Thanks for all
Mokmo
