Stanley was playing his usual R-13 Prestige. Pascual was playing a Tosca, with what looked like a Galper register key/vent.

Mark Nuccio doesn't look anything like Pasqual. I liked the concert a lot. Of course there were a few bobbles (even by YYM), but the live interaction more than made up for it. I wouldn't want this as my only recording of the cello concerto, but the personal quality of both the solo and orchestra playing were memorable.

And no wonder the 7th is seldom played. It seemed to be 25% inspiration and 75% routine. I'd much rather have heard the 8th, where the balance is 95%/5%, not to mention the great clarinet duet in the slow movement.

I wonder why Liang Wang wasn't there. It's unusual for a principal to miss the season opener. I have to say that they didn't lose anything with Sherry Sylar. She's a marvelous player.
