 clarinet solo w/brass ensemble
Author: redwine

Hello,

I'm hosting a brass ensemble at my chamber music series later this season. I wondered if anyone knows of a piece for clarinet solo with brass accompaniment. Thanks!

I can't tell if this is a serious request or not.

We once had a flugelhorn player offer to sit-in with our clarinet ensemble. The thought of that took a while to get over.

Etler Concerto - if you can get good percussionists to accompany.

Hello,

Yes, this is serious. I was given one suggestion of an Etler piece, which I'll check out.

The Stravinsky Octet comes to mind, having many clarinet solo places, but so too do others....but the brass players will love it.

A few years ago I did a couple of guest solo spots at a local brass band concert. Later in the concert I played up front in Errol Gardner's Misty with the band accompanying. It was great fun and seemed to go down really well with the punters. No idea where the music is but I suspect it was arranged by the band master. Anyway there you go.
