 Yamaha German Clarinets
Author: Kenny Chia

Hi!
I was wondering if any of you have any impressions or comments about german clarinets, in particular Yamaha German Clarinets. I have been playing the French (Bohem) system for almost 7 years now and I would like to try the German System. I've heard alot of comments about it, with some people saying that it has a nice sound and some saying that it has a rather "focused" sound.

Any feedback will be appreciated
Kenny

I recently had a blow on the Boehm version of the Yamaha German clarinet, and did not think it matched what I wanted. I might have persevered had not the key work seemed so spongy. I felt there was no chance of playing with fluidity on it.

I was recently given a Yam cl brochure [by a seller!!] and it says " The YCL 856 in Bb and the YCL846 in A offer a traditional German sound with the convenience of a Boehm fingering system. They feature a 19-key, 6-ring design, a German style bore [I presume a 15.0+ mm bore??] and a string ligature mp. A full range of Oehler system cl's is also available. ----". I've only played on a Boehm 17/6 Yam, but wasn't greatly impressed. I'd like to try their top bass [C] cl. tho! Now I've told you more than what I know, but this has improived my typing ?skills? . I have no Idea about the yamahas besides what don has said. But I do know about amati german system clarinets. That is what they specialize in when it comes to clarinets. The company told me that there german systems are a 10 while there boehms are an 8. they also said some pros play there professional model german system clarinet, the ACL-670. I was thinking about ordering one to try. They also make the brand Belcanta.

There was one on ebay, i think it was the ACL-645. made for the European market.
