 Nelhybel Concerto
Author: Iacuras
Date:   2007-09-12 05:45

I was just looking through some old E-mails, and found a manuscript copy of Nelhybel's Clarinet Concerto. I was thinking about diving into this after I finish up with Weber 2. Has anyone played this before?

In the mid-60s, Vaclav Nelhybel regularly brought his new pieces to the West Point Band for a read-through. We were happy to see him, because it was a break from familiar material.

His music was skillfully done, largely atonal, brass-dominated, and VERY loud.

I haven't heard his clarinet concerto, though I imagine he cut back on the brass.

I have a recording of the piece that was sent to me with the manuscript (I think I sent you that copy) but it's on TAPE and I'm not sure I have the equipment to make a copy of it (and the tape is back at home while I'm at school). I was born in the 80s, sorry!
