This isn't an unusual double in commercial music (such as Broadway shows). The parts might include tenor or baritone sax, and bass clarinet (flute too).

I used to do that and it worked out pretty well. You won't need to be concerned about embouchure problems; they don't get mixed up. A big plus is that you already know the basic fingerings, and how to breathe while playing.Maybe even take the opportunity to really get to know the R. Strauss duet concertino, Yikes!

I also though the bassoon was a great sounding instrument but alas my tiny hands rendered me inable to reach the keys. If you want to have a go at the bassoon go for it.

I agree with the above, yes, Bdy show music often demands lots of horn "doubling", will look up the Strauss even with my small hands [oboe, not bassoon] size. Go for it! Don

Sounds like fun to me! I even had a dream recently about playing a bassoon. Why? Who knows.

Yes! You can double up on bassoon, I myself am and it was not difficult to transfer from treble to bass. The hardest thing, playing the bassoon is the reed, lip control and keys, but other than that I a really enjoying it.

I play both and i love it! I started out on Clari, and about a year and a half ago learned how to play bassoon. I'm the only bassoon player in my school so it's hard when i want to play clari too (cuz for clari i'm first chair) so i have to balance which instrument i should play on for stuff like orchestra, concert band, pit orchestra, districts~ ya know, all that stuff, but it's still alot of fun~ go for it!
