Hi, this is my first post on this forum, but I've been lurking a lot anonymously and reading a lot of the threads - finally decided to join.
Well, what is everyone's favourite piece to play/what do you play best (I did a search and couldn't find a similar topic)
My current 'tour de force' is first movt. of Weber 2. Of course I want to expand this to encompass the whole concerto, the 3rd movt. is a work in progress, playing the last page to tempo (accurately!) will be the final challenge.

The clarinet part from Peter and the Wolf. I forget which animal it is, but I think it's Ivan the Cat.

armadillo, what a coincidence. I'm the exact same. My tour de force is Mvmt 1 of Weber 2 and I am working on Mvmt 3 right now. I've got the first page memorized, but still need more work on everything else.

Yeah Icarus, I've got the 1st page of my Breitkopf edition memorized - the bravura first 4 bars where the clarinet starts...then, end of that page lol...
but also I've got that last page of movt 3 memorized, but somewhat by incidental means - been practicing it so much (hardest part for me) that I can't help but memorize it!

Is "Tour de Force" a sufficiently broad term to include concert band music and solo performances by other ww and brass inst's ? If so, several of our concert playings of band-arranged classics. L'Arlesienne, Der Rosenkavalier [Waltzes], Light Cavalry, Cuban Overture etc etc, rank high with me. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
