1193 Bass

Just Purchased new 1193-2 Prestige Bass.
What a wonderful sound.
Big, lots of harmonic content, good tuning,
clear right up to the very, very top of my range,
D, six ledger lines above the staff(Treble clef).
Never had a bass that could do that for me before.

Thanks to those that had previously responded to my inquiries.

I heard J. Lawrie Bloom on one of those last year at ClarinetFest, and I agree - a breathtaking sound!

I also enjoy my new 1193-2 and have noticed the difference in tone and the ease in reaching the higher notes. Just this past Monday, the oboist in our community band stated how "we noticed" the improvement in my sound. Another benefit is that is has given me incentive to practice longer and more frequently.

I've been keeping my eyes open for a new instrument, but I'm not familiar with the Prestige company. Is that possibly a Stencil brand actually made by one of the well known companies? Does the model 1193-2 go below low Eb?

It is a Buffet Prestige made by Buffet-Crampon and, I am quite sure, not a stencil brand. Prestige is their name for their top-of-the-line clarinets. The range of the 1193-2 goes to low C. They have an equivalent instrument that only goes to low E-flat (model 1183).

Buffet has different lines :..... Vintage, R13, RC,
Greenline, Elite...... Prestige is a Superb professional model by Buffet.
