 Fligh of the bumble bee

I need to know if there are any other Bb clarinet arrangments in addition to the Jerry Kirkbridge # 1896...

If so what are they and which one is used more often...any better than the others...

Thanks

Dennis

The one that starts on an E makes by far the most sense. Bonade did an arrangement that starts on F# and to me doesn't make sense playing wise (lays like crap). There are a few arrangements of it (can't put my finger on any right now).

Yup, that's the right edition.

...think of it as an extremely flat E. :)

There is a brilliant arrangement by Emma Johnson that starts on E, and later ventures up to high A......sounds great if you've got the chops and the fingers. It's by far my favorite arrangement......just wish I could play it! It's available in her collection "Encore! Emma Johnson", with piano accomp., pub. by Chester Music. It has seven other pieces from her "Encore" CD on ASV disc.

I did an arrangement for 4 clarinets from the piano music. The "bumblebee part" passes from one clarinet to another as the non-bumblebees keep the beat going!

It's fun!

Just a memory I have of getting this piece in high school from my aging clarinet teacher...

I believe I glued the pages together so it wouldn't come up again!

Surely the rest of you have never done such a thing...!

Susan -
Any chance of getting a copy of that arrangement? Our quartet would love to play it!
