Does anyone know anything about a flute that has been in my family for years? It says Martin Freres paris 1740 and model #f-2489. I don't know anything about musical instruments but am curious as to it's value. Thankyou

Are you sure the ?1740? isnt 1940?? While I dont know much about the REAL antiques, I believe having both a serial no. and Martin FRERES [brothers]as maker should put it in the 20th century! My old flute of about 1820 is made of wood and has 8 keys with tone-hole inserts. What's yours like? Don
