As I might've mentioned before, I have very little orchestral experience. I'm hoping to gain some this fall, when the 2nd clarinet chair in my college's symphony orchestra will be open for a term. There aren't a ton of clarinetists at my school, but there will certainly be at least a low pressure audition for the spot, possibly against one or two other players.
My main question: I'm planning to play the first movement of the Mozart Concerto, and hopefully some excerpts from their planned fall program, which includes Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture, Beethoven's 7th Symphony, and Schumann's Piano Concerto in A. The only one of these that I know reasonably well is the Hebrides Overture. What would you recommend learning from the other two pieces for the audition? Obviously, learning everything in full would be optimal, but if I'm crunched for time, which would be some important excerpts to present?
Thanks!
PS: Is there somewhere I can find parts for these pieces, or should I just extract them from scores on public domain sheet music sites?
