 Kanter mouthpiece

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about a Kanter mouthpiece that I have. I would like to know the measurement of the tip opening and if the facing is "open" or "closed". The mouthpice is a James Kanter AA 748. I don't know much more about it, except that it play really nicely. I searched on this forum but didn't find anyting specific to my mouthpiece.

I also have another mouthpiece (not a Kanter but I believe high quality) that I would like to have adjusted to be similar to the kanter. Does anyone know any quality place that does this type of work on mouthpieces, perferably near Los Angeles, California?

I'm not certain as to measurements as I'm not a Kanter expert. Plus, his mouthpieces were hand faced and there's bound to be variation in tip opening and curve measurements from one example to the next so you'd probably just need to have it measured. They were usually made on older Riffault blanks and I believe that the AA facing was his most popular, though I could be mistaken about that.

Jim Kanter himself lives (or at least he did) in the LA area. If you're a union member, perhaps you might try looking him up. He's a very nice guy and one of our best!

yeah jim kanter would probably look at his own mouthpiece creation and retouch it. John Reilly is a name i've heard that does good work too in the area (never done it though)

Thanks for the information and suggestions. I don't play professionally and therefore am not a union member. I didn't realize they were each hand faced. I purchased it in the 1980's from Robert D. Gilbert's store in Los Angeles and they had a bunch of them. As suggested, I'll need to have it measured.

And for my other mouthpiece, thanks for the tip on John Reilly.

Thanks again.
