I have a modified Pro-Tec tenor case, but it was professionally modified, customized is more like it. My repair tech had it done for me, I forget if by Pro-Tec themselves or another party.
When the locks on my original, musty old Conn case broke, I initially replaced it with a soft gig bag for a tenor, but the loose fit combined with lack of real padding (even though it looked like real padding) eventually caused the solder that holds the bell to the body to loosen up as it banged around, actually allowing the bell to piston. Boy, was that an expensive repair
My tech didn't know of any real C-melody cases you could buy, hence the customized tenor case. Nothing is going to break in that case.
