 More questions and THANKS

First, thanks for the advise, y'all given me lots to think about and what to look for. Questions - can y'all give me some models of Leblanc, Selmer and Yamaha, upper intermediate and pro to look for in the used market and opinions on them? (Got lots of thoughts on Buffet) I have a mouthpiece and ligature. I'm shopping in the price range of $500-$800 used. (Made the rash promise to daughter that I'd set aside the same amount spent on clarinet towards upgrading her oboe, so I'm limited as what to spend on clarinet). Next, these are misc. questions - Is there a url for oboes like sneezy is for clarinets? Next, about a year ago, I saw music written for oboe and recorder (yes, as strange as it is, it's an interesting sounding combination) and now I can't find it. Has anyone run across oboe/recorder music?

Susan -

For an oboe URL, try the International Double Reed Society at <A HREF=http://idrs.colorado.edu/>http://idrs.colorado.edu/<A>

Charles Music Co., <A HREF=http://www.charlesmusic.com/>http://www.charlesmusic.com/<A> has good material and links.

There are lots of baroque trio sonatas for oboe with flute, recorder, violin, etc. Get the Peters and Hortus Musicus editions, and avoid those by International, Pelikan and Sikorski. There is an enormous recorder site with music lists at <A HREF=http://members.iinet.net.au/~nickl/recorder.html>http://members.iinet.net.au/~nickl/recorder.html<A>.

Have fun.
