i purchased a bel canto many years ago and haven't played on it for some time. at least for me, the mouthpiece had a tendency to make the musician bite [same for the Eb mpc i used to have too]. for me it didn't lend itself well and eventually switched to something a little more user-friendly.
i would suggest trying a Vandoren M15. you'll need to try as many as you can before you decide on one, but for the money, you can get a solid mouthpiece with a good sound and great articulation. this same mouthpiece is used in major symphony orchestras, including the Cincinnati Symphony.

I have to agree with woodwind650...I've played on Pyne mouthpieces (both a bel canto and a sinfonia), and I got into a biting habit as well...plus, I found the sound on both to be too dark. I switched to an M15, and I fell in love with the sound--I've never gone back.

Sinfonia replaced by VD M13. Better for me.

Fabulous, round sound.
Very resistant, particularly on large dynamic changes.
Played softly, on pitch with ease.
It was VERY choosy about reeds, the reason I sold mine off.
With a properly adjusted reed, it was WELL worth the money.
I just don't want to work that hard!

im looking foward to one. But with some of the replies im not convinced about
it. well how about some suggestions of other top quality mouhtpieces that are play with great ease. Im trying to get away from some of the vandoren models right now cause i've gone through m13,m15 . And im looking for something less factory like.
thanks

I've tried several Pyne mouthpieces, though not recently. He uses an asymmetrical facing that suits some players but not others. I prefer an easy-blowing setup, and his mouthpieces had too much resistance for me.
For that matter, the Leblanc Concerto has more resistance than I like. For me, at least, a resistant clarinet and a resistant mouthpiece would not be the best combination.
However, it may work well with your lip thickness, mouth shape and style of playing. No two people are the same. The only way to find out is to try.

i was thinking the concerto ll was more on the less ressistace side. I think it might just be the eddie daniels mouth piece i might be using. Yes but i was wondering if the medium open facing on the Bel Canto , Would take of some ressistance as well. so i think i might give it a try.
But what about other mouthpieces that provide the same quality sound just not as ressistant perhaps ?
