I'm looking for a solo that I can perform this spring with my band. I'm a pretty intermediate-level player; I'm beginning to work on some difficult solos, but I don't want something that'll be incredibly hard or easy, just interesting, a little show-offy, fun, a little serious. It needs to have a good, but not particularly difficult, accompaniment for a symphonic band (players gr. 9-12, experience level and dedication level highly variable). If anyone could help me out, I'd much appreciate it. You can email or post a reply here! Thanks in advance.

A popular piece to play with band is the Weber Concertino. The band accompaniment is very accessable and i don't believe it's too hard.

I was gonna suggest the Weber Concertino too. I am supposed to play it with my band at either this year's spring concert or next year (not sure yet) and I am in high school also. Its very "show-offy" (new word) and not incredibly difficult. The band parts aren't too difficult either. Plus it's fun to play, which makes it all the more better. Good luck!

My band played the Weber Concertino last fall and had a clarinet soloist come in to perform it with us for the concert. Like everybody has said, the band part is not difficult at all (compared to some pieces), but it sounds REALLY neat. Everybody enjoyed playing it. It's a fun piece!

I played the Weber Concertino my Senior year in High School. Since I had played it several times before (both with Orchestra and with Piano) I was even able to play it from memory (no easy feat for me) which made it seem even more impressive. I have to say that the band arrangement is quite good and I really had a lot of fun playing it.
Good luck.
