This is perhaps moronic, but as I was wiping off the kitchen counter recently, I noticed that I pushed a fair amount of water along the counter before it was actually absorbed into the cloth I was using to wipe it with.
This made me wonder, when you pull the swab through the clarinet, how much of the condensation actually gets absorbed into the swab and how much is simply pushed into the tone hoes, exactly where you don't want it?

It depends on how absorbant the pullthrough is. I use a Yamaha cotton one and it works much better when it's been washed.
But all pullthroughs distribute the condensation around the bore more evenly as well as absorb most, so pull it through at least a couple of times to get the bore pretty much dry, though a little residual moisture is unavoidable, and also not a bad thing.
And I'll keep on saying this: NEVER use the same pullthrough to dry the sockets and the bore with after playing as you'll end up getting cork grease in the bore and into toneholes. Use a piece of kitchen roll for this purpose.

I always blow the water out of the tone holes after swabbing anyway.
The Doctor's 'Black Legend' swab works amazingly. If you're concerned about how absorbant your swab is (or isn't) try one of those.

My silk swab comes out wet. My cotton swabs (no longer used) come out damp --at best.
I swab, blow water back into the bore through the tone holes and then swab a second time.

I bung them in a net bag (that comes with soap powder tablets) and in the machine with the whites, or even handwash them in the sink with hot water and a small amount of soap powder.
I might bung one in my ultrasonic cleaner for a laugh. Yeah, I know - I've got too much wasted time on my hands!
