I was wondering which is a better instrument the Noblet 40 or the Evette Master Model? I am looking at instruments made in the early to mid 70's. The used prices on Ebay look to be about the same.

Well I just bought a Noblet 40 off of Ebay and it was in really good condition other than needing pads. I also got a Signet 100 cheap that was in very good condition. I bid on some Evettes but did not win. I am trying to get a good horn for my wife who use to play alot. All she could afford was a plastic Bundy. Well its been in the attic for years and the bugs ate the pads off. I figured I would get her a wooden one to get her back into playing again and a step up from the plastic one. I am getting the Noblet Repadded and Recorked here in Hunstville, AL. I am not sure what I am going to do with the Signet at this point. The Signet needs at least one pad to be playable. I may try to repad it myself. I used to play in middle school and may try to learn to play again. I have two of the Bundy clarinets with bug eaten pads and I may try to repad those and see how it goes. They are worth like $25 on Ebay in their present condition which is not worth fooling with. Worse comes to worse, I will make lamps out of the Bundy's and sell the Signet 100. If the wife really gets back into playing I may get her something better but the Noblet is better than a Bundy. The Noblet will be her birthday present.
Dave it sounds like you are just up the road from me. I know a couple of guys here in town that play clarinet in the local bands. One of them is getting the Noblet repadded. He hopes the wife will join the band.
