On Cable Networks there's a show titled Classic Arts Showcase. Some networks (PBS is mine in the upper digital channels) have it on 24/7 - mine has it on only from 1AM-6AM daily.
Very, very good Classical work videos. In just 2 days I've seen (DVR recorded it and just fast forward to the "good stuff") Stoltzman doing the Copland Concerto, and Julian Bliss's performance of the Messager at the Proms.
Check it out if you have digital cable.

Yes--lots of great stuff on Classic Arts Showcase. Stoltzman's performance was absolutely Elegant--that's right, with a capitol E!! Too bad--for my viewing, anyway--it ended just before the cadenza. I wrote to CAS asking them (whom ever) to program more solo wind instrument performances and for a schedule of future presentations. The reply was postive regarding the inclusion of more wind instruments, but they felt that the strength of the series was in its random formate which forces the public to view, and learn to appreciate (like), a wider variety of art forms. So you just have to tune and watch whatever happens to be scheduled. All great stuff on the Classic Arts Showcase--old and new.

Yeah, we have it on one of the local stations. It's only on when they don't have anything else to broadcast, usually through the wee hours of the morning. That's actually pretty good for me though, because I found it was a good thing to have on during an all nighter to finish a project. I haven't seen Stoltzman on there yet, but I have a recording of him doing the Copland, which makes me really want to see the visual that would go with it.

Thanks David,
If you have PBS HD or I think its' WNED HD Buffalo/Toronto for me, they have some good programs on there periodically. They had a few broadcasts of the San Francisco Symphony playing the Beethoven Eroica and Stravinsky's Firebird recently.
Has anybody been tuning in to the Metropolitan Opera's broadcasts this year?

Cox Cable in Fairfax County Virginia carries CAS nightly from 11PM to 8AM and 24 hours on weekends. (channel 25) Recently caught Rattle/Berlin Philharmonic doing Bernstein's "Prelude Fugue and Riffs", also John Adam's "Gnarley Buttons". Terrific clarinet playing on both!

Really? I've watched that channel several times, and I've NEVER seen any clarinet performances.
Oh, well...

It was a few months before I saw any clarinet solo music... but it's worth it. The idea of randomness forcing you to watch has defintely taught some things I didn't know. A very useful trick.

There's a ton of Opera (ugh....), Ballet, Showtunes from time to time, and other things that I fast forward through.
So can get through 5 hours worth of "content" in about 30 minutes. There are however lots and lots of really cool historic (Bell Hour, Stoki, etc) videos that are just golden.
I'd DVR it if you have one as opposed to sitting down and watching it. Maybe as background while working or playing on the internet

Dunno whether this tactic works or not, but my husband and I have been trying to push Netflx to acquire more classical music DVDs by checking through the listings regularly and using the Netflix "search" function to try to find classical DVDs we know exist, even when we already know Netflix hasn't got them. We figure that Netflix probably has a program busily ticking away, keeping a record of what subscribers want.
