Can someone tell me if the Selmer HS* is still being produced? If not what is the replacement for it.

It's definitely being produced. A Google search quickly turned up, for example, http://www.nextag.com/Selmer-S201HS-Bb-Clarinet-75045165/prices-html.

It's a medium length facing with a rather close tip.

I don't know but the Selmer homepage is very bad and hard to see what is what and they even don't have information about all their clarinets. For example I saw brand new Series 10II for sale on Ebay but there is no information about them on the Selmer site. I also couldn't see any information about the Saint Louis and you can't tell anytingh from the information on the site what the difference is between the new Arthea and other instruments. I would like to see compleatly new site from them with full information and easier to browse through the site and better organized.

Iceland Clarinet, you must be talking about the Selmer USA page. The Selmer Paris page http://www.selmer.fr is brand new, just redone. It's an improvement. No english version yet though but I'm lucky I take high school french and can get by what they say. The Selmer USA page is very poorly designed IMO. And the Selmer Series 10SII isn't in production anymore if I am correct. The new Selmer Paris website is lacking the tip opening/facing length chart of the old one. It's still under construction.

I bought a lot of old mouthpieces and I find the HS* easiest to play. I just started playing my clarinet after a short 38 year layoff. The owner of the mouthpiece smoked and I am having trouble getting rid of the tobacco smell/taste. I used some Dd's mouthpice cleaner and it helped. I am guessing, is the 201 HS* the same mouthpiece?

I like Selmer mouthpieces on Selmer clarinets. I use the HS* on my 1979 Selmer E-flat alto clarinet. That combination projects beter than average for an alto clarinet, especially with an alto saxophone reed.
