As technology keeps on advancing, manufacturers look for more ways to attract consumers to purchase their product. Bam cases have the industry standard as a super lightweight case and easy to tout. there are many other reputable manufacturers out there, but what would you, the clarinetist demand for in a clarinet bag?
my vote:
-Pocket for either an ipod attached to a....
- built in speaker.
-have a tuner that has a screen on the case (pros and cons for doing this: pro: one less thing to carry around, the case is on the floor, might as well look at it to tune
-built in recording system to record practice sessions
-clean layout like BAM's design
-lightweight (obvious)
-Multiple pockets for pencils
-reed wand
-reed dispenser (a little unrealistic, but flow packs would be cool)
running out of ideas, but i suppose wishful thinking does inspire creation. what would you want to add?

It would hold Bb and A clarinets, fit in my shirt pocket, weight less than 2 pounds when filled with clarinets and it would cost no more than 30 dollars!

then you'd better have small fingers for those clarinets =)

A case that has custom pockets that can be added or taken off at leisure. A modular case. if I need to bring a stand, I can clip it on to the side of the backpack style case. If I need music, I can clip on the "music" pouch. If all I need are my instruments, I can disconnect the pouches containing the mouthpieces, stand, music, and any other stuff.

The ultimate clarinet case would feature a pair of clarinets.

Every piece ever written for clarinet would be inside, complete with a lifetime supply of perfect reeds. And an Ab clarinet. :-)

GAHHH!!! No electronics!
Would be nice to have a modular case that could carry an Eb, Bb, A, and Bass all at the same time, or just the Eb and Bb, or just the Bb, A, and Bass, etc, and have its dimensions appropriately reflect whatever is in it.
Aside from that, just something that holds the horns and has room for a small amount of clutter is good with me. I like Alexi's idea of modular stuff-carrying capability.

i would like a case that conserves space and weight. I would like it to have a big enough area to hold my big leather folder. a spot for my dr. beat, a flow pack compartment, clarinet stand, and of course clarinets! When it opens i would like it not to fall over (aka. balanced). I would like it to be in a brief case so it could hold books/music/laptop.

I agree on the modular case system - I have never been able to understand why case manufacturers don't provide something like a bass clarinet case to which you can zip on smaller cases, modelled on the principle of those removable daysacks you seen on big travelling rucscacs produced by companies such as Karrimor.
