I just looked and WWBW has Vandoren V12 clarinet reeds listed at $18.95.
Although currency valuation is not an exact science, most analysts agree because of serious weakness in the US economy: the current account deficit, the slower growth rate, and the weakening of the housing market, the US dollar will continue its long term slide and further weaken against the Euro and the British Pound.
How does the prospect of higher reed prices affect your purchases? Did you load up on reeds back in the late 90's when the dollar was strong? Do age your reeds so long that over time you have such a supply that you don't need to buy any more?

Nope, just don't care. Reeds are cheap compared to oboe, sax, and bassoon.....
The big thing is taking really good care of the reeds that I am playing on, and keeping them as long as they play well. Being good at adjusting them saves a lot of money when using quality reeds.
But come to think of it, yeah, I loaded up on reeds - still have a bunch of the hard blue Vandoren Boxes and a lot of the Grand Concert Reed boxes of which I am an Artist for that company.
Never hurts to have a good stock in hand for whatever comes up.

The cost actually is coming down. They used to be $20-$21 and the Rue Lepic used to be $23-$24. No they are only $18.95
