My music has a Bb trill in it (throat tone Bb on the staff) and I'm thinking there must be a better way to do it than using the traditional fingerings.
It's in the key of G (one sharp for clarinet) so I'm assuming it would be Bb to C. Correct?

Yes, it's from Bb to C. Trills are always to notes in the scale.
The standard trill is with the top two trill keys. It's not great, but it's all we have. The important note in any trill is the lower one, so it doesn't matter that the upper one is fuzzy.
Adding fingers can help the throat Bb, The best combination is usually to add the two ring fingers and the low F key. This makes it harder to get your index finger up to the trill keys, but that's one of the things to learn as you get better. You could try resting the bell on your knee and moving your right thumb up to operate the trill keys, but I think it's better to learn to stretch your right index finger to do it.

Seconding the use of playing the basic throat Bb (Sp. and throat A key) and using both trill keys for the C in this trill - it's the only way on a standard Boehm system clarinet.
Not so good on an Uebel basset horn as the top trill tonehole is too low down the top joint to give an in tune C when trilling with both trill keys.
For an A-B trill, play throat A and trill with the upper trill key.
In the upper register, play A (xxo|ooo) and trill with LH finger 1 as you're only covering/uncovering a single tonehole as opposed to trilling with LH finger 2 which involves two toneholes and the ring key opening and closing (and clattering if your clarinet is well overdue for a service or has cork pads).
For a G-A trill, play open G and trill with the lower trill key.
In the upper register, play G (xxx|ooo) and trill with the side Eb/Bb key instead of trilling LH finger 3 which can fatigue quickly.

Thirding the standard Bb with top trill keys. I find the C (the note onto which you are trilling) is extremely sharp, so I use just the top trill key.

Regarding the "venting" fingering Ken suggested and the difficulty citied for reaching the side trill key while playing the "low F" key, I never use the rh little finger, but rather the left.
My fingering for venting "throat" Bb/A# is: R & A 0XX/000 + lh B/E The low C/F fingering may also be played with the lh, if that works better on your clarinet. What is important to me is that the venting action is all in the left hand rendering the stretch to reach the right hand trill keys almost effortless. I also vent A the same way (without the R, that is....)
BTW--to trill Bb4 to C4 or A4 to Bb4, I use only the top side key.
