Question: What type of clarinets are favorites for taking on vacation? There are people in my band who only play wooden clarinets, so they would, for example, take a Selmer Signet instead of their Greenline.
I'm thinking of taking my B-12. I'm concerned a bit about temperature fluctuations in the car, but it wouldn't be sitting for hours, but maybe 1 hour. This is a newer B-12 made of the ABS Resin. I'll probably bring my V-45 mouthpiece, I'm thinking this is a good set-up for vacation.

If you keep your clarinet in the seating area of the car (where it can be climate controlled) feel free to bring whatever you like. If you're worried about theft or if you're going to have to LEAVE it someplace where it's NOT climate controlled, then bring one that's less susceptable to changes in temperature (like your B12).

Sitting in a car? The temperature of your dashboard will give you some indication just how hot things get (in the Summer) in a very short period of time. Though I would not want to subject wood to such brutal extremes, the real issue is the lacquer/glue holding corks and pads together. For example, the repair guys that put in Valentinos regularly adjust them with a hair dryer. I wouldn't even want to see what a horn with vanlentinos looked like (regardless of the material of the horn) after sitting in a hot car for an hour.
That being said, I take my regular axe, just carry it with me when on the road...not any more inconvenient than all those laptops I see in Starbucks.
