Well, now that summer is here, it's warm enough that my daughter likes to take out my old R13 *(which I gave her as a Christmas present 18 months ago) and play outside in back of our house. Since the area is paved with brick pavers, and is up against an "L" corne of the house, it acts as a wonderful acoustic shell. It was humid after today's earlier rains, and the sound carried very well.
Her piano teacher called today and asked if she would be able to do a short clarinet solo (accompanied by the teacher) at a local church this weekend. So... my daughter was going through her repertoire of reasonably short solos outside this evening. My wife and the dogs were out there with her. I was enjoying the sound while reading inside.
As she started playing, a number of neighbors appeared out the back doors of their houses, looking toi see where ther music was coming from. A couple from down the street went out of their way while walking their young'un and their german shepherd to peer over the fence and listen for a bit. It was all very enjoyable, and she sounded great. (When she came in, she was glowing about finding a 'great' reed tonight!)
Sorta makes her old geezer of a dad proud, having encouraged her to work on clarinet.
