Where can I buy one of these online?

At a small instrument store in spain, I found a small clarinet that looked to be made out of plastic. It had a clarinet mouthpiece but the body was more like that of a recorder. Does anyone have any information on this kind of clarinet?

The instrument you describe could be a chalumeau:

They`re normally made of wood, but there are also a few plastic chalumeaus around. If you type in "chalumeau" or "pocket clarinet" into the search mask of your searching machine you should get a lot of sources where you can obtain them.

not shure, but it can be something like a xaphoon you are talking about. a tiny instrument that uses tenorsaxreeds. also called the pocketsax.
a very fun and nice/different sounding instrument, but really hard to controll the pitch on. at least i think so, but then i am no saxplayer. :P
more about them at:

(i have nothing what so ever to do with them other than that i am a very happy owner of a black plastic one!!)

Jupiter make plastic chalumeau.

Is the plural 'chalumeaux'?

Maybe if you see them down the market (whenever market day is), they'll be labelled 'chalumeaux's'.

http://www.firstclarinet.com/ Lyons C clarinet....designed for kids.

Also a "Kinder-clari" in Eb, likewise for kids. This pop up on online auction sites.

Perhaps it was one of those.
