A local clarinetist has been using this product for a couple of years now and claims it extends the life of his reeds and otherwise makes reed adjusting much easier (although he still uses his reed knife). My question--do any of you use the Claripatch (Pro or Basic model) and, IF SO, what do you think?

Hello,
i bought the claripatch, the cheaper set with 4 pieces, after meeting with a very claripatch-positive thinking, mr Carbonare.
I have to say that the claripatch does change a reed: can make harder a too soft reeds and viceversa or change sometime the emission.
By the way, after some months, i stopped using them. The reason is personal and instinctive: i would never use a claripatch in a concert or in an audition; for that i want just a very good reed. So the only situation i was using the claripatch was in the study time. Later i realized that for me it is better to dedicate my study time to develop new reeds, and keep in shape my good reeds which i play a little bit every day. Therefore i dont use them anymore and i dont really recomend them to my colleagues.
But of course in life the best thing is to try and make your own thought!
The good thing for me with the claripatch was a step forward on understanding how a reed vibrates or should vibrates.
They are not expensive; you can purchase the cheap set with 4 pieces for about 50 euro.

I think if you use the 'search' function in this bboard, you'll get quite a number of threads regarding claripatch.
About 2 years ago I bought clairpatch pro, and am fully satisfied with it.
I'm an amateur with 4 years of learning the clarinet, and back in May we had this little concert where I was to perform the Mozart adagio. Alas that morning, my reed went nuts, I felt really nervous, but claripatch saved the day.
Even though I don't use claripatch everytime I practice or play, I know it's there as a kind of back-up support, just-in-case resort,..you know what I mean.
Claripatch case is good for holding the reeds, too.

I got a prescription for it but still found myself buying vintage Selmers on eBay.
So I'd say it really doesn't work.
