Thanks in advance for your help!
I was lucky enough to stumble onto one of those Linton (Bb soprano) clarinets with the curved metal bell and neck, in like-new condition. UPS managed to wreck it in transit, although it was well packaged. I mean, the box was totally crushed when it arrived. And, as Murphy's Law would require, it was the bell that was damaged -- it has a nasty crease that has cracked the plating.
I guess the crimp is easy to remove but the plating is still wrecked. How much would it cost to have the bell replated? An educated estimate is good enough, I probably won't actually have it replated but I need an idea how much compensation to demand from UPS.

I'd get a combined estimate for the repair and replating (and refitting the bell key) - somewhere in the region of $200 ought to do it.
But I am basing that roughly on the UK cost with the current exchange rate.
I assume it's in nickel plate - add another $50 on top for silver plate.

Would it sound differently with the Silver plating?
(ducking and running for cover.......)

It'll sound more expensive with silver.
