 Jean Laserre clarinet

I have been searching high and low for info on a Jean Laserre clarinet. I can find nothing on the internet but dead ends and references to postings in this BB archives. Can anyone give me some background on this instument? I am currently restoring one I purchased on Ebay. It appears to be in pretty good shape overall, i.e. no cracks or broken keys, but I am just now honing my skills at restoring these instruments and I do not want to be listed as cause of death on a quality instrument. If anyone has anything to share on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I have read all the postings in the archives, but none really answer my questions. There was a mention in one that indicated that Mark C. might be able to look it up in a manufacturer's index. I'd really like to know.

Thank you.

I'll try & remember to check when I get home later today, but the chances are there won't be much info.

Hi glynn and Mark, I ran quickie patent searches on USPTO and Google/Patents [US only], finding that the name "needed" to be Lasserre. A few Jean showed up, none related to clarinet. but to medicine and automobile. So, my conclusion is that its just a good French "stencil" name for some maker's marketing. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Thanks for the info and the effort, Don. The name is embossed on the instrument as Laserre. Mark, if you find anything at all I would appreciate whatever you get.

Thanks again.

Thanks for trying, Mark, I do appreciate it. I guess I'll just have to judge it by sound once I put it back together again.

Thanks again to you to, Don.

glynn1 out.

I started on one of those clarinets in 1962, It worked for me though H.S. and I became first chair my freshman year with it. Then I switched to a Selmer clarinet.

I still have it. The case, bell and lower section are a wonderful lamp in my den now.
