 Anime Rhapsody in Blue
Author: Ken Shaw 2017

Think you're immune to seasickness? Here's a bizarre anime Rhapsody in Blue, with the clarinet solo is played by a stuffed bear on a Melodica, morphing into a clarinet and back, and a Japanese voice-over.

Thanks Ken,

Would be interesting if there was ever a real video of the orchestra playing this piece. Sounded a bit out of character at the end with the riffs but hey, that floats somebody's boat...

I kind of liked the arpeggios substitued for the originally written clar solos half way through. As for the rest, as an old Spike Jones fan, it was entertaining.

Wow, I never thought I'd hear this played without piano. Some of the pianica stuff was a little much for me (I really missed hearing the standard licks at the end), but many of the other substitutions were pretty interesting to hear. I agree about the clarinet arpeggios; if anyone was going to replace the piano in that section, the clarinet was the one to do it. It gives a nice continuity to the solo that you don't get when the piano is there.

Of course, thanks to the "related videos" sidebar, now I'm going to have to watch every other version of this that's on Youtube. Good thing I love this piece...

This is an anime based on the comic "Nodame Cantabile."

This Japanese comic has been translated and published in English, and
The story is so interesting and funny. Very appealing story for any instrumentalists. I must admit that I am a fan of this comic (and I am
NOT an anime geek AT ALL).

There is non-anime TV drama version of it too, but only in Japanese.
There might be pirated versions for other languages as well.
