 Winslow for B Clar

Just "test drove" a recently acquired Winslow lig on my CXBS mpc (Buffet 1193-2) and wanted to report what a positive difference there is in the sound--expecially in the low register. Compared to the Optimum lig previously in use, this reconditioned Winslow (I polished the band and replaced all the posts, bumpers and screw) produces a much broader spectrum of overtones in the sound, making the low register notes particularily rich, and also adds a "ring" in the clarinon register that I like. This improved sound was noted for both VanDoran 3.5 and Legere 3.0 reeds. Also, there is a noticable added "kick" to the sound I am able to produce allowing me to simply play louder when I have to. The sound still retains it's focus at pp volume levels which I attribute more to the Grabner mpc than the Winslow. But with both, I am now a better bass clarinetist--at least, in my own mind. I'm very pleased and just wanted to share this with all of you bass clarinetists.
