Some colleagues of mine were recently discussing an ointment used by boxers when they sustain a cut in their mouth. A boxer applies the ointment to the cut and over night the wound is nearly healed. My clarinet friends were saying that some players (especially Eb clarinet players) use this on their bottom lip when it is worked raw. Does anyone know the name or brand of this ointment? Thanks.

Well TCP helps ulcers heal quickly. But I would have to agree with Max. Unless the teeth are really rough perhaps technique should be looked at before miracle creams.

Sharp lower teeth can be dulled by a dentist so that soreness is reduced a lot.

I use aquaphor ointment when my lips get raw/tired.
