Just a thought:
Did anyone notice that all of the ladies in that balcony section were rather on the college-age-young-side? It was a Ben Folds Pops concert...makes you wonder if it was a regular patron vs. "them young hooligans"?
Hmmm.

Ben Folds!!??
Well there ya go....after all, he DID team up with William Shatner to do an album.
Can't get more decadent than that.

obviously they didn't agree with the conductor's tempo for the music being performed ... (tongue firmly in cheek)
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

Maybe they were clarinet players arguing over which mouthpiece is best. Then one of them said, "Your mama plays an Artley," and the second one said, "Your mama uses plain old Ricos," and the first one said, "Your mama plays on Rico 1-1/2s," and....

Alseg -
You may not be old enough to remember Vibrator reeds, which had vertical grooves in the bark. They were the worst reeds ever made and tasted of rotting bamboo.
However, the existence of the other kind of vibrator was definitely part of the joke.

Not only do I remember Vibrator Reeds, I actually still have about 100 of them left over, sitting on the shelf in my studio.
That's the best place for them.
BTW - Besides the distinctive grooves, the cane quality varied from light toasty brown to dark burnt toasty brown.
In the '60's and '70's Vibrator Reeds were sold in bulk to many schools for their clarinet and saxophone students.
No wonder the woodwinds in my band always sounded so bad.
Rookie teacher mistake...GBK

Yes, I remember them....and Symetricut reeds, also.
The latter actually were not so bad, AND they did not require batteries

oh, the grooved reeds were Vibrators?
i got ahold of some of those odd looking reeds a couple years ago. (they were sax reeds given to me by someone) they really didn't play all that well.
i never figured out what they were until now.
hmmmmm....

How trashy was that "news" page?
After a brief explanation of the situation, there's a little video window entitled "Watch the Fight!"
Gotta love it! (Not!)
