 Help!

Hello,
As many of you know I'm going into my Sr. year of high school. So, I need to start deciding on college. I had a list of schools but they keep changing. This summer I'm going to go look but I really need help. I want a large school. At least more then 6,000. I want a school who is strong in Music, I want to go right for grad afterwards and I was told if I don't go to a well known music school I'll have trouble getting into a good grad program. Is this true? If it's private I only want non religious schools or catholic schools. But if there public university's that's good. I'm not sure how to find out if they are strong musically. Also, my grades are not the top so I need my music to get me into good schools. If anyone has some suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Monica

I am in the same boat!! Sort of! I have the same problems, except for the grades part. I had to give most of my pratice time for studying for good grades or drop music for good (parental decision, not mine!) So my grades are great, but I have been lagging in music, my true love.

But I know the panic of trying to find a good music school. What to do is find a good college book (titles escape me now) and start looking. It is long and tedious, but you have to do it.

try talking or emailing a music directer at one of the schools and asking him your specific questions. I did and it helped a lot! Well, good luck and post anything again if you want to talk!

The University of Wisconsin--Madison has a world-class wind ensembel conductor named James Smith and a relatively un-known but excellant clarinet instructor, Linda Bartley. This Big-Ten Music School is well worth checking out.
