I't's rather unusual that a young student would have such an expensive ($5400+) clarinet.
Except for Julian Bliss, does anyone know of a professional musican who actually owns one and plays it on a regular basis?

Yep, Eddie Daniels. He was very proud of it and wanted to show me all cool "features" it had, when I got the wonderful opportunity to watch his rehearsal here in Stockholm recently.

Eddie is certainly a respected pro. and his approval means something.
Eddie aside, it's notable that a lot of well known professionals have a little of the gear acquisition syndrome, the deadly GAS, (like many of us).
One very well known young symphony clarinetist seems to favor a change of gear, mouthpieces, barrells, bells, reeds, etc. about three times a year! Still Lazarus had eighty mouthpieces in use!
I'm sure Eddie's sincere, but we'll check next season and see if he's still a Legacy man....

Speaking of people that have switched (and I think he might've already been mentioned in this thread...hah), has Ricardo Morales started using the Leblanc/Backun clarinets? (I assume he would use a Legacy if he did?)
He's listed as a Leblanc artist.

Ricardo has been noticed at public concerts playing a Selmer with a Bakun bell and barrell! Maybe someday he'll play the whole Legacy thing. Hopefully he was using a Rico Reed which he has endorsed. I wonder if these guys regularly use half the things they endorse. I suppose it doesn't matter but....

How recent was the sighting? I know Ricardo played a Selmer Recital with a Backun bell and barrel the past few years, but he told me he had switched to the Legacy last fall.

I also heard (from Morrie Backun himself) that Ricardo is playing the Legacy (and the Symphonie). But he has so many instruments it's always hard to keep up.
But I agree that it is unusual for such a young player to have such an expensive instrument.

Thisd is really not the best instrument for a high-school clarinetist. She should send it to me immediattely, and I will swap out a much more suitable Leblanc Cadenza for her at no charge to her. Ya know, Brenda, we just gotta love Jeff . . . he will bend over backwards to help a young student who is struggling to play a horn that was not designed to play tunes like "Grandfather's Clock", "Go Tell Aunt Rhodie", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", etc. What a guy!!

Hello,
I attended a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York this weekend. Ricardo played the Brahms Quintet with Gil Shaham and friends.
He played it on a Leblanc by Backun Legacy A Clarinet with Cocobolo bell and Cocobolo barrel. It was a magnificent performance that he gave. He received a standing ovation, from a New York non - Clarinet audience and four curtain calls!
Ricardo is playing the Leblanc Legacy by Backun Clarinets now, and has been for several months for both his solo and orchestral work.
