 Bird's Grafton
Author: Ken Shaw 2017

Here's a short, good story on Charlie Parker's plastic Grafton alto http://www.artsjournal.com/rifftides/archives/2007/04/birds_plastic_a.html, with a link to a clip where it's being played http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISadfOcJn3A&mode=related&search.

Would you believe it sold for $144,500? How many perfectly restored Mark VIs or Cigar Cuttters could you get for that.

$144,500!!!! I only hope that it was thoroughly swabbed out before being "passed on" at that price.

And yes, you doublers out there should always swab your sax after use, same as your clarinets. Pads last much longer and it doesn't develop those foul odors when stored between gigs. FWIW, I have separate swabs, one for the main body and a smaller one for the neck.

Even owning Parker's alto won't make playing Anthropology at mm=300 any easier...GBK

Are you kidding - swab out bird's alto?

I'd drink the stuff if I could.
