Hello All. This my first post. I was hoping someone could share a little history with me regard a Kohlert Winnenden I've had for approx. forty years. My parents purchased this clarinet for me while stationed in Germany. The serial number is 94642. I'm curious as to the year of mfg. and the approx. value (not that I plan to sell). This clarinet has not been used much in the last forty years, however it is in excellent condition as while in storage, I've keep the wood and cork treated. I'm glad I did so since my Granddaughter (age 10) is now showing an interest. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jim

I believe the Kohlert factory was in Winnenden from about the early 1950s until the company's demise at the end of the 1960s (more or less). Lots of good instruments came out of that Winnenden factory! I don't have a serial number list nor am I aware of one, unfortunately.

I have a Kohl-Winn A, which says only "Made in Germany", no ser #, its a very black plastic, [possibly wood?], has tenon caps [Dave] and is a good player. I believe I bot it [pawn shop?] for $25, so it could join the ranks in the Unappreciated thread. If I can find my N G map of Germany, perhaps I can post its nearest "big" city. Having seen a few other K's, I agree with D S that they and their later cls were good ones. Luck, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
