I have one. I like it. I saw a cork in the middle between the rails. Anyone know why there is cork? If it wasn't there, it would remind me of a gold inverted Bonade.

Hi Chris,
I'd imagine the cork strip is there either to give a little extra grip on the reed to keep it from a-slippin' and a-slidin'. Either that or to damp some of the vibration/ringing of the ligature, or perhaps both.

I've wanted to get one just because I think they look cool.
Fortunately, not only am I too poor, but not that "shallow" of a player :-D

For the shallow remark. I had a teacher tell me that I had enough ring in my playing that using equipment like gold plated ligs can actually be beneficial (adding more warmth).

I have one of these too. the strip is paper- but it does look like cork. mine came off a long time ago and I think it plays the same with or without. Btw- I don't know about your's, but mine never touched the reed.
