Well I just opened up my case and I found a little orange worm thing in there. I can't see any damage to the pads on my horn, but I'm worried that the bugger laid some eggs in there or something. This is actually the 2nd time this has happened to the same clarinet/case, so I guess I should look for a new case and get the horn cleaned.
I'm also worried about my Richard Hawkins mp- does anyone know if these bugs have an appetite for hard rubber?

I don't think your mouthpiece is in danger.
In the future, keep a cedar pencil (or a little piece of cedar wood) in your case (replace with a new pencil or block a couple times a year). This should keep the larvae away.

good idea......I wish I would've learned last time!
oh yeah- I forgot to mention that I practice on average every 3 days, so the clarinet hasn't been sitting doing nothing.

They only attack felt, so your mouthpiece won't be touched.

If they're getting into your case, you may find them elswhere around the house too. I had an infestation in an apartment in my college days, and they can live on an awful lot of things you might not think of as bug food.
