If you meant a peg for playing and not a stand like in the link above, then you can get one made in a metal shop. There might be some pegs for sale, but you have to make sure it has the right diameter that you need.

you can probably get an iron rod at a hardware store for a fraction of the price. they usually are nice enough to cut it to any length you want for a low price, or just free.

The iron rod is just one ingredient - where would I fasten it?
Assuming blazian has an Alto without a peg mount, we should read "peg assembly".

I have, and definitely use, a peg for my bass, but dont feel I need more than a double-hook neck strap for my alto, and playing back and forth on both, the peg-extension would "get in the way". However, my "head-position" for alto is less comfortable than for bass. I would like [I think] a "swan-neck" tuning barrel for my alto, having seen such for a ?later model? Leblanc [1980's ?] alto. Thots, anyone? Don

I was thinking of just attaching my lyre holder to the bell and finding a rod or peg to fit in it. The alto is light enough to be supported by it, right?

Muncy Winds provided a LeBlanc (Vito) bell bracket and peg for my LeBlanc Alto Cl. The tech at our local music store silver soldered it to the bell. Works just fine. By the way, a new LeBlanc Alto can be purchased with a peg assembly if desired.

i dont even use a neck strap for an alto, i just hold the beast like you do with a Bb ; i don't believe i've ever seen a peg for an alto.

I have a peg for my alto. It is a modified bass clarinet peg. The bass peg on its' own was not long enough, so Morrie made me an extension for it which works like a charm. It takes all the weight of the instrument, and changed it from something I was fighting with, to something that co-operates!

I can play my bass off of the thumb rest as well, but I understand that others may not have the strength of arm and shoulder necessary to do so. Hell, there are some that cannot stand the weight of a soprano clarinet.
The soldered to the bell route is the way to go. The wood on an alto body is nowhere near as thick as it is on a bass, and drilling and tapping holes could end up causing more problems that the peg would solve.
